So you are going to Tumbler Ridge camping! Where should you stay??? Definitely the Tumbler Ridge Lions Campground located along Flatbed Creek! This past September long weekend, we took a road trip to small Tumbler Ridge, BC to camp, hike, and explore. After doing a quick google search (like you probably did to find this article) of campgrounds in Tumbler Ridge, I quickly decided on the Flatbed Creek Lions Campground. And I'm glad I did! It had an excellent location being only a couple minutes from town, great amenities, and even had hiking trail access from the campground! The Tumbler Ridge Lions Campground is located about 2 km from Tumbler Ridge on highway 29 going towards Chetwynd. Don't go over the bridge! The Campground entrance is immediately before the bridge. We missed it and had to turn around...which isn't always easy to do on a highway with a 30 foot trailer! There are plenty of hiking trails nearby, including the famous dinosaur track trail. Click here for a map of Tumbler Ridge and a map of hiking trails! It is handy being close to town in case you need to stock up on water or a few more groceries. Don't expect to find too much excitement in the small, quiet town though!Flatbed Creek Lions Campground - Campsites
There are 2 loops of campsites. The lower loop is down by the river (Flatbed Creek) along with most of the campground amenities. There is a trail from the upper to the lower loop though so some of the campsites up there were just as close to the shower building and big playground. Since we booked last minute, we didn't have any choice in campsites and ended up on the upper loop. When we arrived, I was pleasantly surprised that there was a small play structure right beside our site and we even had our own little direct path to it (that saved a good ten seconds of walking! 😆). The kids were overjoyed and had it to themselves most of the time. Plus, we were happy we could supervise from the campground while making supper!Flatbed Creek Lions Campground Amenities
As you can see from the pictures below, the huge playground at our Tumbler Ridge campground was a big hit. Anyone with kids knows you need something to expend that energy on!Enjoyed the article?
